Friis Path Loss Calculator

This calculator computes the power that a receiving antenna receives for a given transmitting antenna for a given power for a distance greater than one wavelength for line of sight transmission. The greater the frequency the greater the path loss.

Input:
Ptx (dB)
lambda (wavelength), OR
f (frequency)
(m) OR
(MHz)
d (Distance) (m)
Gtx (dB)
Grx (dB)

Prx (dB)

Equations:

Prx= Ptx*Gtx*Grx*( (lambda)/(4*PI*d) )^2

OR in dB

Prx= Ptx(dB)+ Gtx(dB)+ Grx(dB) - 20log(4*PI*d/lambda);

The last term is the path loss.
